On October 18, Yusen Logistics held a groundbreaking ceremony for the construction of a multifunction logistics facility in the Thilawa Special Economic Zone (SEZ) in Myanmar. Full-scale construction has now begun, with an eye to reaching operational status by July 2017.
Attendants including Thilawa SEZ Management Committee Joint Secretary Than Than Thwe, Myanmar Japan Thilawa Development Limited (MJTD) Chairman Thein Han, Mitsubishi Corporation Chief Representative for Myanmar Mitsuo Ido,Yusen Logistics Senior Managing Executive Officer Shoji Murakami, and Yusen Logistics (Myanmar) Co., Ltd. President Yasuhiko Nojima attended to express their hopes for a smooth and safe construction.
The new logistics facility will be in the Thilawa SEZ in Yangon District, covering an area of approximately 6,300m2 out of a total area of 30,000m2. Within the facility there will be Temperature-Controlled Storage areas offering four temperature settings of -20°C, 5°C, 15–20°C, and room temperature. There will also be assembled vehicles yard area where we will carry out logistics services related to assembled vehicles such as vehicle storage, pre-delivery inspections, and customs procedures. We will use this facility as a base to offer a variety of storage and delivery methods for cross-border trade between Thailand and Myanmar.
With the new facility, Yusen Logistics Thilawa will[DW5] support customers establishing new production and sales bases in South East Asia in industries such as retail, automotive, electrical goods, and foods. We will be able to offer a range of services such as storage management, logistics processing, inspections, set temperature storage of chilled and frozen goods, and cross-border trade.
