Yusen Logistics Co., Ltd. (President: Hiromitsu Kuramoto; hereinafter “YLK”) has been certified as an authorized customs broker under the Authorized Economic Operator (AEO) system by Tokyo Customs effective on February 4, 2013. YLK is the 25th company to become an authorized customs broker under the jurisdiction of Tokyo Customs.
The certification ceremony was held on February 14 at Tokyo Customs, where the certification was handed over by Yasusuke Tsukagoshi, Director General of Tokyo Customs, to Hiromitsu Kuramoto, President of YLK.
With the authorization, YLK will be subject to more moderate measures for customs procedures by Customs as an authorized customs broker that complies with laws and regulations and provides appropriate cargo management. At its 13 customs offices across the country, YLK will be able to use a system in which a tax return can be filed after receiving import cargo and in which an export declaration can be made for cargo in places other than bonded areas provided forwarding is by an authorized logistics operator.
YLK has received the AEO authorization twice in total, including the certified customs broker this time and recognition as authorized warehouse operator in 2008 (under the authorized warehouse operators’ program). YLK will continue to provide safe, secure and speedy international logistics services by developing a higher quality customs system through the relocation of divisions related to export customs clearance to Aomi, Koto-ku, Tokyo on February 18.
