Yusen Logistics Co., Ltd. (President: Kenji Mizushima), aiming to contribute to the sustainability of our customers' long-term supply chains and business growth, has begun offering new services to solve complex logistics problems to customers who are looking for a more integrated or complex set of services and to support deeper supply chain management.
There are a number of economic agreements that promote free trade, and the world economy is becoming increasingly complex, as evidenced by the entry into force of the Japan-EU Economic Partnership Agreement and the TPP11 as a new Free Trade Area.
At the same time, the emergence of protectionism, such as the UK's decision to leave the European Union and trade frictions between the United States and China, has had an impact, and the business environment for our customers is changing dramatically.
Against this backdrop of economic conditions, we will use new services to support customers who are plagued by recent complex logistics challenges, such as responding to changes in tariffs in different countries.
The new logistics support service utilizes a database of six functions to provide information on tariff classifications, the latest tariff rates, and rules of origins.
We also provide comprehensive supply chain diagnosis services to meet customer needs, such as landed cost calculation, including transportation costs, tariffs, and insurance premiums, sourcing analysis, and providing market information.
By providing optimal solutions based on the various information analyzed by this diagnostic service, we can expect to reduce tariffs and improve efficiency and mitigate risks across the entire supply chain.
In addition to these solutions, our network of more than 550 locations around the world provides a variety of logistics services, such as Ocean & Air freight forwarding service and inventory management. As a partner in the latest economic partnership network and trade policies, we are able to provide support for integrated supply chain management, from helping to solve logistics issues to actual logistics arrangements.
An example of using this service
We conducted a survey on possible tariffs for U.S. medical supply manufacturer who we've supported their logistics for many years.
An analysis of goods and additional tariffs likely to be affected by trade friction between the United States and China revealed that more than half of the shipping goods will be affected, leading to the acceleration of delivery deadlines to minimize additional tariffs.
Our Mission is to become the world’s preferred supply chain logistics company -applying insight, service quality and innovation to create sustainable growth for business and society. Looking ahead, we will continue working to address the increasingly complex challenges of our customers through our "Insight" to create solutions to solve these challenges and provide new services.
